Bio

Light Bulb Bright Idea Innovation Business Free Form

I am a former teacher and a current Master's student for Instructional Design and Technology.

As a teacher, I was proud of the curriculum and the materials I built for my students. In my district in Colorado there was no set curriculum for music, so I had to create my own. I researched many pedagogical practices, found the ones that fit my talents and that would benefit my students, and used that to scaffold a music curriculum that fit Colorado Music Standards.

After researching alternative careers, I learned about Instructional Design and Technology. I enrolled in a Master's program at Purdue Global University for Instructional Design and Technology. In my degree program, I learned about eLearning tools and environments, the ID process, adult learning theories, and more. I am looking for opportunities to put my learning into practice and design effective and efficient training and e-learning courses.

This was created from a storyboard I created during a course at PGU (example 7). This course features knowledge checks, social media interaction, and interactive elements.

Needs Assessment

Through my degree program, I have experience conducting needs assessments, analyzing the data, and creating a learner and contextual analysis.

Image #4 is of a needs assessment and a learner and contextual analysis completed for the school-wide implementation and training of Google Classroom mentioned above. This assessment and analysis was completed for a course at Purdue Global University and contains information on the demographics and prior knowledge of the leaners and the school.

Planning

As an IDT student, I learned the importance of planning. I believe that full fledged planning leads to success. This was true as a teacher, and is still very applicable to the Instructional Design field today.

Example #5 is an example of a Learning Management System implementation plan. This document outlines the features and necessary plans for implementing a faux Learning Management System.

Image #6 documents an evaluation plan. This plan outlines formative and summative assessment plans for data collection and analysis. This plan also outlines logistics, limitations, and implications of the plan for evaluation.
